Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP) / Pathfinder International
Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP)/Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is mandated to provide female and male family planning (FP) methods, offering the broadest possible choice. These include short acting, long acting reversible, and permanent methods. In providing FP services, the MOHFW facilities ensure informed choice and voluntary use of FP for both women and men. Links between various levels providing FP services are established through a functioning referral system. DGFP has agreed to serve as receiving organization for this project. Pathfinder International is responsible for LNG IUS program implementation working closely with DGFP providing technical assistance to DGFP to strengthen provider skills and expand access to contraceptive services by using its platform of activities with DGFP to provide training in LNG IUS to DGFP trainers and providers in high volume centers and provide assistance on follow up and monitoring of the initiated services.
The partnership with DGFP in Bangladesh began in August 2021, when the first shipment of 300 units of LNG IUS were shipped to Dhaka.
