AMC University Clinical Center of Prishtina / AmeriCares
Americares is a health-focused relief and development organization that responds to people affected by poverty or disaster with life-changing medicine, medical supplies and health programs. For nearly 40 years, they have responded rapidly and effectively to the needs of their local partners and their communities. Americares provides unparalleled leverage for donors? philanthropic dollars by using donated medicine and supplies and the local infrastructure of our partners to build community health. In Kosovo, AmeriCares partners with Action for Mothers and Children (AMC), a Foundation serving low-income patients to improve maternal and child health. The Foundation is fully empowered and locally led by a devoted Board of Trustees and with support from the Ministry of Health. AMC?s goal to save the lives of children and mothers in Kosovo is realized through four program streams: 1) Education, 2) Supply, 3) Research, and 4) Advocacy. In June 2017, 300 units were shipped from the ICA Foundation to the Gynecology Obstetrics Clinic within the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (UCCK), which AMC works with. The clinic employs over 46 specialized doctors, 201 nurses, and served as a residency center. The Clinic offers the following services:
- Primary health care services including family planning;
- All ranges for services for healthy pregnant women and women with complications in need for specialized care;
- Services for women after labor (i.e. contraception, child care);
- Diagnostic and therapeutic services for couples.
