ICA Foundation began working in Nigeria with Rotary International in 2007. Since then, the Foundation has increased their collaboration even further, establishing more partnerships and increasing the sources of LNG IUS throughout the country. As of October 2012, ICA partners with four separate entities in Nigeria and 8,500 have been donated.

Rotary International

Rotary International's local District (9120) has received 6500 LNG IUS units for distribution since 2007, and currently works in Kano, Kaduna, Oyo, and FCT-Abuja states.

Device acceptance is reportedly very high among women served by Rotary International maternal and child health clinic services. Information from the field indicates that hospitals throughout the study areas support the promotion and insertion of LNG IUS. Program partners have developed and employed educational efforts among providers, conducting preliminary and refresher trainings for midwives and nurses. Community activities involving men and religious leaders in family planning promotion have also been hosted to increase awareness and acceptance of family planning methods, including the LNG IUS.

Marie Stopes International

Marie Stopes (MSI) Nigeria have received 900 LNG IUS since 2010 which MSI clients have been offered alongside other contraceptive options through MSI’s clinics and outreach posts at no cost.

University College Hospital at University of Ibadan

University College Hospital Ibadan is a tertiary hospital in Oyo State, Nigeria, with extensive resources and services for health issues including family planning and HIV/AIDS. With a total donation of 700 LNG IUS provided since early 2012, trained physicians, nurses and midwives at the Hospital integrated LNG IUS into services available to women receiving HIV/ARV testing and services. A second donation was directed to the Family Planning Clinic, where services focus on clinic-based family planning methods, service provider training, and evaluation of national and international programs.

Population Services International (PSI)

A global nonprofit organization focused on the encouragement of healthy behavior and affordability of health products, PSI was founded in 1970 to improve reproductive health using commercial marketing strategies and has expanded to work in over 50 countries in the areas of malaria, family planning, HIV, diarrhea, pneumonia and sanitation.

A hallmark of PSI is a commitment to the principle that health services and products are most effective when they are accompanied by robust communications and distribution efforts that help ensure wide acceptance and proper use.

PSI works in partnership with local governments, ministries of health and local organizations to create health solutions that are built to last.

In December 2017, 500 units were shipped to PSI?s local partner, SFH Society for Family Health (SFH), in Otta. Additional units have since been shipped.
